Must Start With My Mustard Obsession:

Everyone has an obsession with one color. My obsession with mustard is a well-known fact. Not dandelion yellow, not sunflower yellow but MUSTARD yellow. I don’t like to look like a school bus or a neon sign. I like the strong saturation of gold mustard yellow. My favorite way to wear mustard is in a cardigan, a shoe or a hat. I don’t wear them altogether, ever.

TIP:  I have a no more than *2* of the same solid color item in an outfit (guidline-there are always exceptions).  You can obviously mix in a pattern that has that color but not a third solid. We want to look like we know what we are doing, not that we just walked out of a catalogue and we are featuring all items for sale in the same color… which is what they do. Here is a pic that breaks my “guidelines” of pairing the same color. I would like to point out that guidelines are only necessary for people who need them.

If you don’t think like this or don’t care to, then its best to follow guidelines or have someone help you. Otherwise go for it! Try to break the rules and pull it off. You never know, right? Or do you…

Here is an example of a mustard coat and dress paired perfectly with boot/belt combo. The mix of sheen on the dress fabric and the contradictory matted wool coat makes this outfit work. If her hair wasn’t the perfect color to match her belt and boots… it might not all work. It’s about what works on YOU sometimes. A lot of people call this coat gold but it's mustard, don’t kid yourself.

Mustard is a perfect color for fall. Have you worn it yet?

Ladies, what color is hoarding your closet color wheel?
Do we need to get rid of some things or are you just rocking your latest color OBSESSION?

P.S....

Here is an outfit for the working woman that is basic but needs that extra pop of mustard to seal the deal:

Wear these adorable heels from Anthro Anthropologie: Marquee Gemmed Heels , tuck in any tight fittin' T with this gorgeous dark blue pencil skirt Dark Blue Pencil Skirt and this fab scarf from Ralph Lauren Saks Fifth Avenue, Ralph Lauren Blue Label Ruffled Infinity Scarf. If its chilly out, throw on a heather grey or oatmeal colored basic cardigan from Nordie's Crewneck Cardigan. Make sure the scarf stands out as a focal piece above the cardigan. The mustard shoes stand alone as a pop of color.
